REDO support groups provide a unique blend of peer mentoring and expert guidance in a semi-structured atmosphere. Each and every REDO group is led by an individual experienced in facilitating eating disorder recovery support groups.
Making peace with food takes time so we use an open group model with continuous membership. Groups are held weekly and individuals are welcome to come for as long as they need – whether a few months or several years.
“REDO means safety, not being the only one, learning and growing, camaraderie, being challenged (gently and appropriately), and developing a sense of peace…” – group member
Your initial contact with REDO will likely be from our director, Sarah. She’ll be able to answer any questions, explain a bit more about REDO philosophy, and determine what group availability looks like at this time. After this step, if you are interested in pursuing group, our intake coordinator will call you to ask you some brief questions about your history and current issues with food. This will help us match you appropriately to a group. Once your intake has been completed, you will be contacted by the group facilitator to set up a start date. It generally takes 1-2 weeks to complete the process.
Please note that groups are not “drop-in”; a phone intake is required before joining group.
• Tuesday Evening 6:30-8pm – Anorexia/Bulimia Group
• Wednesday Evening 6-7:30pm – Binge/Compulsive Eating Group
• Thursday Evening 6-7:30pm – Binge/Compulsive Eating Group
*Group placement takes into account many factors including your schedule, available spots in group, age, and history. Each group has its own personality and through the intake process we hope to place you in the group that will best lead to success. We believe small groups are key to developing a safe environment for healing and so we limit each group to 8 group members.
REDO support groups are not covered by insurance so monthly fees are self-pay only at this time. Our standard monthly fee is $85 per month, however sliding scale rates are available for those with financial concerns. We accept cash, check and credit card.
If you have a HSA plan, you may be able to use those funds for our binge/compulsive eating groups if there is a specific disease diagnosed by a physician that can be treated by “weight loss”. If you are interested in using your HSA funds please speak with Sarah for more information.
We find that the REDO philosophy works best for those that attend and participate in group consistently. Although we understand you may miss group sessions occasionally due to illness, work, vacation, etc. group fees are due at your first session of the month and will not be refunded for missed sessions.
